Punjab Information Minister Imran Khan says power shows won't get him out of jail.

Azma Bokhari alleges that PTI is disseminating "fake videos and photos" to conceal the low turnout at the Islamabad event.

On September 8, 2024, in Lahore, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari gives a press conference speech.

  • Minister Asserts PTI was unable to draw a crowd for its Islamabad event.
  • claims that the party created by Imran "planned to create disturbance."
  • According to Bokhari, the PTI founder may only be freed by a judge.
LAHORE:Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), will be released from prison, according to Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari, who made this claim on Sunday as the party was ready to flex its political muscles in Islamabad.

Today, the main opposition party is scheduled to host a public protest in Sangjani, a neighborhood of the federal capital. Senior PTI leaders are leading loyalist convoys that are traveling from different places throughout the nation.

Bokhari slammed the Imran-founded party's power show in the federal capital, saying during a press conference that "they [PTI] are going to stage a drama in Islamabad today."

She went on to say that such protests and public assemblies would not result in the release of the imprisoned former premier.

She noted that the PTI founder could only be freed from custody through legal proceedings following the filing of cases against him. "There is neither an NRO for him nor will these power shows change anything," she continued.

Although the administration was not worried of political developments, the provincial minister stated that "we are concerned about their [PTI] past activities."

She was alluding to the violent protests that broke out on May 9 of last year following the arrest of the former premier, during which demonstrators attacked military and government buildings.

The former ruling party, she claimed, was "planned to create disturbance in Pakistan."

Bokhari said that at any costs, no one would be permitted to interfere with the state of law and order.

Before the PTI power demonstration, the federal

The new rule gives the district magistrate the authority to control and prohibit public gatherings in the nation's capital, and it suggests that those who participate in a "unlawful assembly" face a maximum sentence of three years in prison or an undefined fine.

Additionally, it was suggested that repeat offenders might face up to ten years in prison.

In response to a query concerning the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), the politician stated that since Maulana Fazlur Rehman was a high ranking official, she would not address his criticism of the coalition government.

She did, however, emphasize that the cleric's statements on the National Assembly floor were significant because they indicated that overthrowing the current government would have disastrous ramifications for the nation.

False footage to conceal low attendance:

The former ruling party, according to Bokhari, "is spreading fake videos and photos to hide low attendance at the federal capital's rally".

Speaking to Geo News, Bokhari claimed that "the party's leaders are using fake videos and photos to advertise the [Islamabad] public gathering."

She claimed that although the Punjab leadership of the PTI declined to invite people to the political event, the party has failed to get support for its public meeting.

"The footage of the August 14 event, which was actually from Kashmir, was uploaded by [former president] Arif Alvi. Even someone like Alvi is forced to share outdated footage in order to demonstrate widespread participation in the upcoming event. But these films were removed by the former president [from his social media account]."

She went on to say that in an effort to save face, Shahbaz Gill and other PTI-affiliated YouTubers were also disseminating phony films.

It is now the PTI's responsibility to organize the public gathering after the local government granted them a no objection certificate (NOC).

Bokhari said that the party's Islamabad event was being publicized using funds from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

After the opposition party canceled its previous rally and rescheduled it for September 8 after the local government revoked the NOC citing security concerns, its top leadership came under fire from party leaders and workers for not being able to hold the public gathering in Islamabad.

The PTI founder's instructions led to the demonstration being postponed until September 8, according to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan.
